Philippe Cognée est l’un des premiers artistes de sa génération reconnu pour avoir donné une impulsion nouvelle aux techniques picturales qui remettent à l’honneur la peinture et signent le renouveau d’une certaine figuration. Il part d’images photographiques qu’il projette sur le support. Il utilise une peinture à l’encaustique faite de cire d’abeille et de pigments de couleur et la dispose au pinceau sur la toile, puis la recouvre d’un film plastique sur lequel un fer à repasser chauffe la cire, étalant et déformant les formes. We have gathered by our side our friends and collectors Galila, Estelle and Hervé Francès, and Alain Servais. Along these contemporary art collectors, a primitive arts collector has joined us. The works of our guest artist, Kendell Geers, create an invisible yet essential guiding thread throughout the exhibit. L’association « Spiritualité et Art » organise du 17 janvier au 2 février 2013, une exposition intitulée L’art au défi de l’espérance à la Mairie du 6e arrondissement de Paris. Cet événement est le fruit de deux ans de recherche de dix-neuf artistes plasticiens, qui se sont concentrés autour du Livre de Job. Présent dans les trois religions monothéistes, Job apparaît comme un personnage à la fois universel et énigmatique, figure de l’homme qui reste dans la lumière malgré les épreuves qui lui sont infligées. Véritable panorama de la création actuelle, d’une grande diversité formelle et technique, l’exposition révèle la profonde richesse d’interprétation du mythe. Dans un contexte marqué par la crise, elle dévoile l’engagement sans faille de ces artistes de sensibilités et d’horizons différents pour porter une pulsion d’espoir au cœur de la société. (…)

The Kochi-Muziris Biennale is an international exhibition of contemporary art being held in Kochi, Kerala.
The exhibition will be set in spaces across Kochi, Muziris and surrounding islands. There will be shows in existing galleries and halls, and site-specific installations in public spaces, heritage buildings and disused structures.

Iván Navarro’s light sculptures have evolved from his extensive exploration of light and electrical materials, together with a profound interest in enriching a dialogue with modern and contemporary artists, designers, architects, and musicians who have made significant contributions to art history. Fluorescent Light Sculptures features three floor sculptures, fourteen wall sculptures, and three videos that illuminate the thematic directions of his multilayered practice over a decade. The Nowhere Man series, shown here in its entirety for the first time in a museum in the US, engages and transforms the iconic pictograms originally created by Otl Aicher for the 1972 Olympics. Videos are as important to Navarro’s practice as are his sculptures: the three videos on view illustrate the artist’s conceptual and formal reach. Curated by Julia P. Herzberg. (…)

Shiota’s installations produce their own spaces, where hundreds of invisible threads that bond us to things can be seen. In these domestic scenarios she proposes, threads become bridges between a bride’s dress and the absent subject, a piano, suitcases and a mirror. In her work, these threads are veins with tears, fear for abyss, life and death; threads that are plots of particular and universal stories, interweaving like the inverted roots of a tree, just like a rhizome through multiple branches that hold up the relationship between I and the world. Jonathan Meese signe la scénographie de la création de l’opéra Médée au Théâtre des Champs-Elysées

En 2007, une partie du public parisien le découvrait par sa réalisation de la scénographie et des costumes de l’adaptation des Maîtres chanteurs de Wagner, mis en scène par Frank Castorf au Théâtre National de Chaillot.
Pierre Audi, metteur en scène et directeur de l’Opéra d’Amsterdam, avait fait appel à Jonathan Meese en 2010 pour la scénographie de Dionysos, l’opéra de Wolfgang Rihm, hautement salué par les spectateurs et la presse du Festival de Salzbourg.
Les voici à nouveau réunis pour la création au Théâtre des Champs-Elysées de l’opéra Médée de Charpentier en compagnie de la chef Emmanuelle Haïm et des Concert et Chœur d’Astrée.
En créant un rideau d’ouverture, où les mots L’AMOUR C’EST MOI sont inscrits, Jonathan Messe, offre au public sa vision fulgurante de l’héroïne Médée.

Initié en septembre 2011, « L’Inventaire » consiste à dresser, à chaque rentrée de septembre, un état des lieux de la collection du Frac Haute-Normandie en présentant les oeuvres du Fonds par leur numéro d’inventaire. Peu connu du public, ce numéro est pourtant déterminant puisqu’il désigne l’ordre d’entrée de chacune des oeuvres dans la collection. Au-delà de son fondement juridique, ce code contribue à constituer l’histoire du Fonds. « L’Inventaire » prend pour méthode d’exposition la suite chronologique de ces numéros afin d’explorer les logiques et articulations de cette collection. Ce projet à long terme se renouvellera chaque année jusqu’à atteindre le dernier numéro. (…)
