Norbert Bisky
L’artiste
Norbert Bisky est né en 1970 à Leipzig en Allemagne. Son travail sur les paysages, ses recherches sur le portrait et la structure narrative l’inscrivent dans la lignée de la grande peinture européenne. Ses expériences sur la décomposition des formes et les aplats de couleur l’amènent aussi à la frontière de l’abstraction. La peinture figurative de l’artiste, évocatrice du réalisme socialiste qu’il a connu dans son enfance en RDA, évoque à la fois l’hédonisme et le chaos contemporain.

« Je n’aurais pas été un artiste sans la chute du Mur. » En novembre 2019, à l’occasion du 30e anniversaire de la chute du mur de Berlin, le peintre Norbert Bisky revient sur la fin de la RDA, le chaos de l’après-réunification et son expérience personnelle dans deux expositions parallèles, POMPA et RANT, respectivement à Berlin et Potsdam.

Après l’exposition Tainted Love (Where did our love go) organisée en 2017 à Poitiers pour la réouverture du Confort Moderne, la Villa Arson propose une version « Club Edit » avec la complicité de Yann Chevallier et d’une trentaine d’artistes venant de tous horizons.Cette exposition ne parle pas, l’image est fixe, le son coupé. Des vêtements élégants, des corps fragmentés, des silhouettes suggérées qui dansent sur ce hit aux paroles de coeurs noirs multiplient les effets de suspension et simulent un mysticisme sentimental. Les œuvres posent, les vies se croisent, le sensible s’expose. L’intime, le secret, les alcôves, les chambres et autres lieux de rencontre deviennent l’espace même d’une exhibition, d’un explicite. Les bons sentiments et la morale permettent souvent l’accession au pouvoir des cyniques. Endosser des identités hybrides, réversibles et mouvantes, faites de jeux, de masques, de travestissement, permet de garder entière sa liberté d’embrasser un réel scandaleux.

Balagan – un terme perse qui signifie chaos, mais aussi exubérance – réunit des œuvres inédites de l’artiste allemand Norbert Bisky, dont la majorité ont été réalisées à Tel Aviv, dans le cadred’un échange d’atelier avec l’artiste israélien Erez Israeli. Une installation intégrant un bus brûlé, de grandes peintures colorées, des œuvres sur papier : les pièces exposées donnent à voir l’ambiguité de l’univers de l’artiste, qui balance entre angoisse et joie de vivre.

Du 12 mai au 16 septembre 2012 This top-class exhibition developed at Marta Herford addresses the diverse relationship between two creative production centres: the artist’s studio and the kitchen. Connected by the pleasurable use of new materials and ingredients as well as the close involvement of the senses, both these rooms have also undergone a process of transformation over the centuries. Artists’ studios have developed from master craftsmen’s workshops into mysterious studios of brilliant creators and later factory-like studios or multimedia laboratories. And a parallel path has been charted by the kitchen, which has evolved from an archaic fireplace into a rural kitchen-cum-living-room, the small kitchens found in blocks of flats, and modern open high-tech units. These distinct painterly positions, which are represented by the 18 artists featured in this exhibitions, all involve a self-reflexive investigation of the painterly process and of the nature of contemporary painting.
