As part of the group exhibition JAPAN. BODY_PERFORM_LIVE at  PAC Padiglione d’Arte Contemporanea, the new installation Empty Body by Chiahru Shiota will be exhibited through February 12, 2023.   The exhibition investigates the Japanese contemporary art of the 2000s, focusing on how bodies and performances are connected to society, environment, materiality and technology.

L’exposition dont le commissariat est assuré par Sophie Laroche, rassemble une cinquentaine d’artistes, réunissant plus de 150 oeuvres de toute nature, issues d’institutions nationales, internationales et de collections particulières.

Une exposition collaborative “Statues Also Breathe” par Prune Nourry a ouvert ses portes à Art Twenty One à Lagos, au Nigéria, dévoilant un projet majeur en hommage aux filles de Chibok qui ont été enlevées par Boko Haram dans leur lycée du nord du Nigéria en 2014 – dont beaucoup sont toujours portées disparues. Le projet comprend 108 portraits en argile, modelés d’après les filles disparues imagées dans le style des têtes ancestrales iconiques d’Ife.

A collaborative exhibition “Statues Also Breathe” just opened at Art Twenty One in Lagos, Nigeria, unveiling a major project honoring the Chibok girls who were kidnapped by Boko Haram from their high school in Northern Nigeria in 2014 — many of whom are still missing. The project comprises 108 portraits in clay, modeled after the missing girls imaged in the style of iconic ancestral Ife heads.

Chiharu Shiota a conçu une installation faite de fils entrelacés spécialement pour sa nouvelle exposition personnelle “Silent Words” au musée Schauwerk Sindelfingen en Allemagne. L’installation du même nom remplit l’espace de lettres flottant dans le ciel, d’un bureau et d’une chaise, tendues sur des cordes noires. Les lettres s’étendent dans l’espace comme un univers de pensées et d’émotions, mais personne ne peut les entendre.

Chiharu Shiota has designed an installation made of interwoven threads especially for her new solo exhibition “Silent Words” at Schauwerk Sindelfingen in Germany. The installation with the same name fills the space with letters floating from a centered desk and chair into the sky, stretching over black ropes. The letters expand into the space like a universe of thoughts and emotions, but no one can hear them.

Jitish Kallat présente l’installation sculpturale Untitled (Two Minutes to Midnight). Cette grande installation réunit deux points de repère soigneusement choisis, l’un de notre passé préhistorique et l’autre d’un futur prophétique. Les sculptures sont placées sur un socle qui reprend les contours de l’emblématique “Doomsday Clock” qui, depuis 1947, représente une hypothétique catastrophe mondiale d’origine humaine à “midnight”. Depuis sa création, l’horloge a été réglée chaque année 23 fois en avant et en arrière pour indiquer les menaces que En outre, il présente une installation de papier peint spécifique au site, intitulée Integer Integer Studies (Drawing from Life), comprenant 365 dessins, produits quotidiennement pendant l’année pandémique 2021.

Jitish Kallat presents the sculptural installation Untitled (Two Minutes to Midnight). This large installation draws together two carefully chosen pointers, one from our prehistoric past and the other pointing to a prophesied future. The sculptures are placed on a plinth that echoes the contours of the iconic “Doomsday Clock”, which since 1947 pictures a hypothetical human-made global catastrophe as “midnight”. Additionally, he also features a site specific, wallpaper installation titled Integer Studies (Drawing from Life) comprising 365 drawings, produced daily during the pandemic year of 2021.
