Les représentation du temps à travers les arts visuels traditionnels sont habituellement liées à la contemplation des paysages, avec des photographie ou des peintures. Durant ces dernières décennies, les artistes ont tourné leur curiosité vers les fluctuation du temps et les possibilités créatives qu’il représente. Weather Report présente un groupe d’artistes hétéroclites, qui font tous référence au temps de manière provocante à travers la sculpture, le dessin, la peinture, l’installation, ou encore la vidéo.

The Weather Report will reveal the sky as a site where the aesthetic, the romantic, the political, the social, and the scientific co-exist and inform one another. The depiction of weather in the visual arts is traditionally linked with either landscape painting or photography, but in the last several decades artists have increasingly turned to other media to explore weather and, by extension, the larger subject of the Earth’s atmosphere. Weather Report presents a group of diverse international artists who reference weather in provocative ways through sculpture, drawing, painting, installation, and video.

L’exposition “East West Jazz” présente plus de 30 robes et textiles uniques de la collection d’Alexander Klyachin et plus de deux douzaines de tableaux abstraits d’après-guerre provenant de la collection de la fondation Gandur pour l’Art. L’exposition est enrichie par des œuvres issues des collections du Musée des beaux-arts Pouchkine et du Centre Pompidou afin de révéler davantage l’interaction entre les cultures orientale et occidentale, notamment 14 feuilles de la série graphique “jazz” de Henri Matisse créée en 1947 et des œuvres de Kandinsky appartenant à la collection du musée Pouchkine et 14 œuvres abstraites du Centre Pompidou et de collections privées françaises. Cette exposition sera philosophique, émotionnelle et contemplative plutôt que didactique.

The exhibition “East West Jazz” displays over 30 unique robes and textiles from Alexander Klyachin’s collection and over two dozens of post-war abstract paintings from the collection of the Gandur Foundation for Art. The scope of the exhibition is widened by works from the collections of The Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts and the Centre Pompidou to further reveal the interaction between Eastern and Western cultures, notably 14 rarely displayed sheets from Henri Matisse’s “jazz” graphic series created in 1947 and works by Kandinsky from the Pushkin Museum collection and 14 abstract works from the Centre Pompidou and French private collections. This exhibition will be philosophical, emotional and contemplative, rather than didactic.

Fin septembre, Kehinde Wiley a dévoilé la sculpture en bronze d’un jeune homme Afro-Américain monté à cheval au centre de Times Square, à Broadway Plaza. Intitulée Rumors of War, la statue fait référence aux monuments controversés de la guerre de Sécession qui se trouvent encore à Richmond, en Virginie, plus d’un siècle après leur érection.

Late September, Kehinde Wiley has unveiled a bronze sculpture of an African American man riding a horse in the center of Times Square at Broadway Plaza . Titled Rumors of War, the statue references controversial Confederate War monuments that still stand in Richmond, Virginia, over a century after they were erected.

L’œuvre immersive donne une perception tangible de l’univers, comme l’explique l’artiste : « Avec cette installation, je souhaite visualiser l’univers au sein de cet espace. Un nuage massif de lignes entrelacées remplit la pièce; il flotte au-dessus d’une collection de neuf tables et chaises. Le réseau contient des centaines de nombres blancs comme des étoiles dans le ciel nocturne. »

Talented Chiharu Shiota laid her artistic web entitled ‘Counting memories’ in a polish museum, in Katowice.
The immersive works gives a tangible perception of the universe, as the artist explains : “With this installation, I want to visualize the universe within this space. A massive cloud of intertwined lines fills the room; it floats above a collection of nine tables and chairs. The network holds hundreds of white numbers like stars in the night sky.”

Oda Jaune présente un projet artistique inédit itinérant à travers les paysages les plus sauvages de Bulgarie. Sa sculpture The Caress, réalisée à l’été 2018, voyage depuis septembre en suivant un parcours tenu secret qui l’amènera à sa dernière étape près de Sofia au printemps 2019. D’abord installée sur les rives rocheuses de la Mer Noire à Varvara, elle surplombe désormais les carrières de Kaolin de Vetovo près du Danube. Oda Jaune a rêvé de mettre au défi de la rencontre avec la nature et avec la population locale une œuvre subtile et ouverte à l’interprétation. Sa Caress aux drapés délicats et sensuels renvoie à la tradition artistique de la Pieta. Elle jette le trouble, interrogeant la fusion et la nature de l’amour qui lie ses protagonistes : mère et fils, amants ou jumeaux ? Les réactions des habitants et des passants à cette œuvre énigmatique, exposée loin de tout contexte muséal, sont une partie intégrante du projet.

TRAVELLING PROJECT, BULGARIAFrom September 2018 to May 2019
Oda Jaune is presenting a new artistic project travelling through the remote, unspoiled landscapes of Bulgaria. Her sculpture The Caress, created in summer 2018, has been on the move since September, following a secret itinerary that will conclude near Sofia in spring 2019. The sculpture, first installed on the rocky shores of the Black Sea in Varvara, currently overlooks the Kaolin quarries in Vetovo, close to the Danube. Oda Jaune’s dream was to rise to the challenge of creating an encounter, where a subtle work, open to interpretation, meets nature and local people. Her Caress, with its delicate and sensual draping, evokes the Pietà artistic tradition. The work is unsettling, questioning the concept of fusion and the nature of the love that binds the protagonists: are they mother and son, lovers, twins? The reactions of local residents and passers-by to this enigmatic work, displayed far from a museum setting, are an integral part of the project.

Here various works by contemporary artists, including installations filling entire rooms, sound art, video art, and a piece exhibited outdoors, are shedding new light on works by the modern masters, encouraging multifaceted interpretation.
