Les artistes Jean-Michel Alberola et Tunga participent à la nouvelle grande exposition collective duPalais de Tokyo, du 20 octobre au 11 janvier 2015 : Inside. Inside propose au visiteur une traversée à l’intérieur de soi dont l’espace d’exposition serait la métaphore. Cette immense odyssée, tant physique que psychique, invite à traverser deux niveaux du Palais de Tokyo métamorphosé par les artistes de façon à ce que, d’une installation à l’autre, nous soyons toujours à l’intérieur d’œuvres qui nous conduisent en nous, de la peau jusqu’à nos pensées les plus secrètes. Jean-Michel Alberola and Tunga are part of the Inside group exhibition at Palais de Tokyo (Oct 20 – January 11). Inside offers visitors a passage to the interior of the self, for which the exhibition space serves as a metaphor. This immense odyssey, both physical and psychological, invites us to walk through two floors of the Palais de Tokyo that have been transformed by artists in such a way that, from one installation to the next, we remain constantly immersed in the works, which lead us within ourselves – from our skin to our most intimate thoughts. Du 20 septembre au 22 novembre 2014 La Galerie Templon est heureuse d’annoncer la participation de Philippe Cognée, Gérard Garouste, Jitish Kallat et Chiharu Shiota à la Biennale de Busan 2014 (20 septembre – 22 novembre) en Corée. Intitulée Habiter le monde, cette édition réunit près de 160 artistes de trente pays autour d’une exposition principale, deux expositions spéciales, divers programmes d’études, des échanges internationaux et des événements participatifs. Sous la direction artistique de Olivier Kaeppelin, l’exposition principale se concentre sur les rôles de l’art et des artistes dans un monde en état permanent d’incertitude économique, écologique et socio-politique. Habiter le mondepropose d’explorer l’extraordinaire constellation des réponses artistiques aux défis contemporains.

From September 20th 2014 to November 22th 2014 Galerie Templon is proud to announce artists Philippe Cognée, Gérard Garouste, Jitish Kallat and Chiharu Shiota’s participation to the 2014 Busan Biennale (September 20 – November 22) in Korea. Entitled Inhabiting the world,this edition gathers around 160 artists from 30 countries, with a main exhibition, two special exhibitions, diverse academic programs international exchange events and participatory events. Under the direction of Olivier Kaeppelin, the main exhibition focuses on the roles of art and artists in aworld of permanent state of economic, ecological and geo-political uncertainty. Inhabiting the world intends to explore the extraordinary constellation of artistic responses to the contemporary situations.

Rarely does artist James Casebere reveal the scale models that contribute to the “work,” defined as the photograph. This exhibit is uniquely organized to engage students and faculty in the creative process behind the work. The show reveals the artistry of how modeling is handled in the creation of an image conceptualized from specific vantage points.John Hartell Gallery will feature Casebere’s recent work, mostly from the Landscape with Houses (Dutchess County) series featuring several very large framed photographs and, unusually, a display of the corresponding scale models that were used to create the photographs. 18 JUILLET – 19 OCTOBRE 2014 Dans la lignée de Marina Abramovic, la jeune plasticienne japonaise Chiharu Shiota place le corps au centre de sa pratique sculpturale en tissant de vastes environnements de fils noirs emprisonnant des objets qui, ainsi libérés de leur utilité, provoquent de nouvelles visions poétiques et émouvantes.
 Après avoir séléctionné 10 costumes du Guépard, conçus par Luisa Spinatelli, Chiharu Shiota imagine pour le Ballet National de Marseille et La Vieille Charité, une installation inédite, aussi monumentale que délicate.

JULY 18 – OCTOBER 19, 2014 In the same vein as Marina Abramovic, Chiharu Shiota places the body at the heart of her sculptural work, weaving huge environments out of black threads that imprison objects. Thus liberated from any useful purpose, they generate new poetic and moving visions. After selecting 10 costumes from Le Guépard designed by Luisa Spinatelli, Chiharu Shiota has devised an unusual installation for the Ballet National de Marseille and the Vieille Charité that is both monumental and delicate. co-organised by the Ballet National de Marseille & Museums of Marseille An exceptional setting for contemporary installations, since its renovation the chapel of the Vieille Charité has welcomed works by renowned international artists the likes of Christian Boltanski (Les anges, Les ombres, 1986), Gabriel Orozco (Oval Billiard Table, 1996) and Javier Perez (La Torre de Sonido, 2001).

His choice of motifs ranges from organic—a butterfly—to inorganic—a simple crumpled paper boat, an old sneaker—and to the metallic and shiny object of desire, a motorbike. But however strong the presence of each of these objects may seem, shown frontally or in strict profile mounted on a stretcher, larger-than-life and standing out against a white background, they still are but a means to an end, or the vehicle of a consistent analysis which, by balancing painterly potentials, generates iconic paintings. Plus largement, le musée est attentif à l’actualité artistique européenne : Barry Flanagan en 2002, Jan Fabre en 2003, Jean-Pierre Raynaud en 2006, Michelangelo Pistoletto en 2007, Jaume Plensa et Richard Long en 2008, Wim Delvoye en 2010 sont quelques-uns des artistes qui ont réalisé une exposition personnelle au musée. La monographie de Julião Sarmento s’inscrit dans cette démarche. Né en 1948 à Lisbonne, où il vit et travaille, Julião Sarmento est l’un des principaux représentants du renouveau artistique portugais ayant suivi la chute de l’Estado Novo. (…)
