As an artist, I question the world, my universe, where I come from; I want to say, remind society of things that seem essential to me. For this book, I want to reflect the thinking of Amadou Hampâté Bâ. It’s not just a question of illustrating the tale step by step. Everything said in Kaïdara reflects the essential learnings of African society, the animist past, culture, tradition, the way we perceive the divine, the sacred. With this work, I want to show the wisdom of Kaïdara, and find out how we can bring this wisdom into our modern world.»
