Vik Muniz
The artist
Born in 1961 in Sao Paulo, Vik Muniz lives and works in New York. Muniz is known for his use of unlikely materials such as dust, toys, wire, caviar and diamonds to recreate images drawn from our collective memory. His photographs use metaphor as a new medium, questioning the nature of representation.
