L’exposition The Light House invite le public à vivre une succession d’expériences personnelles et collectives avec la lumière, pour la plupart immersives, au travers des œuvres d’artistes contemporains majeurs, couvrant près de 60 ans de production artistiques. Le parcours de l’exposition s’articule autour de cinq thématiques : la lumière céleste, la lumière trouble, l’expérience de la couleur, l’éloge de l’ombre, les néons et les ampoules.

The exhibition The Light House invites the public to experience a succession of personal and collective experiences with light, mostly immersive, through the works of major contemporary artists, spanning nearly 60 years of artistic production. The exhibition revolves around five themes: celestial light, murky light, the experience of colour, the praise of shadow, neon lights and light bulbs.

Same Dream rassemble plusieurs des peintures de Ba représentant des dictateurs et des figures d’autorité, qui dirigent des régimes corrompus et violents à travers le continent africain et dans d’autres parties du monde, en particulier là où les héritages du colonialisme persistent. Parfois représentés comme des bêtes hybrides, à la fois humaines et animales, ces chefs de guerre despotiques sont généralement enveloppés d’une faune et d’une flore abondantes. En effet, la nature devient une force récurrente dans l’œuvre de Ba.

Same Dream brings together several of Ba’s paintings depicting dictators and authority figures, who lead to corrupt and violent regimes across the African continent and in other parts of the world, particularly where the legacies of colonialism persist. At times represented as hybrid beasts—part human, part animal— these despotic warlords are typically enveloped in an abundance of lush flora and fauna. Indeed, nature becomes a recurring force across Ba’s oeuvre.

Le nouvel accrochage du Musée Matisse à Nice évoque la postérité de l’œuvre d’Henri Matisse dans la seconde moitié du XXe siècle. Ce nouveau parcours intitulé « Les murs reculent » s’inspire d’une citation de l’artiste à son gendre le critique d’art Georges Duthuit à propos du fauvisme qui résume un aspect essentiel de sa recheche. The new exhibition of Matisse Museum in Nice shows the work of Henri Matisse’s posterity in the second half of the XXth century. This new circuit entitled “Les murs reculent” is inspired by a quote of the artist to the critic Georges Duthuit about Fauvism that summarise an essential aspect of his research. American and European Artists are presented in dialogue with the artworks of the museum collection incuding Jean Arp, Joseph Albers, Morris Louis, Jules Olitski, Ellsworth Kelly, Shirley Jaffe, Kenneth Noland, Al Held, Frank Stella, Richard Serra, Aurélie Nemours, Simon Hantaï, Raymond Hains, Jacques Villeglé, Claude Viallat, Daniel Buren.

L’exposition Kehinde Wiley: Ship of Fools est organisée par The Box en partenariat avec The Arts Institute, University of Plymouth and Royal Museums Greenwich.Narrenschiff (Ship of Fools), 2017 de Kehinde Wiley est une projection de film numérique sur trois écrans qui produit une expérience immersive pour le spectateur. Le film dresse le portrait d’un groupe de jeunes hommes noirs en mer, luttant pour atteindre la terre – une métaphore des narrations historiques et contemporaines de migration et de dislocation sociale.

The exhibition Kehinde Wiley: Ship of Fools is curated by The Box in partnership with The Arts Institute, University of Plymouth and Royal Museums Greenwich. Narrenschiff (Ship of Fools), 2017 by Kehinde Wiley is a three-screen digital film projection that produces an immersive experience for the viewer. The film provides a portrait of a group of young black men at sea, struggling to reach the land – a metaphor for both historical and contemporary histories of migration and social dislocation.

Cette exposition s’attache à interroger le pouvoir subversif de l’anonymat qu’implique le principe « d’anti-portrait » incarné par la représentation « vue de dos ». L’exposition organisée par l’espace culturel Namurois, le Delta, pose un regard nouveau face à des phénomènes actuels tels que le « selfies » sur les réseaux sociaux, les dispositifs de surveillance par reconnaissance faciale, mais aussi, le très récent port du masque sanitaire venu redéfinir notre perception des espaces publics.

This exhibition seeks to question the subversive power of anonymity implied by the principle of “anti-portrait” embodied by the representation of someone from behind, “vue de dos”. The exhibition organized by the Namur cultural space, the Delta, takes a look at current phenomena such as “selfies” on social networks, facial recognition on surveillance devices, as well as the very recent wearing of a sanitary mask, that has redefined our perception of public spaces.

Toutes ces constructions imaginaires participent d’une manière ou d’une autre à des projets de transformation de la réalité. Peintures, vidéo, dessins, œuvres multimedia et sculptures révèleront les aspirations communes et l’esprit expérimental des différentes générations d’artistes qui imaginent de nouvelles manières d’habiter l’espace, qu’il soit physique, imaginaire ou corporel.

The European Nomadic Biennal, Manifesta is presenting a new Fall exhibition: Real Utopias. Conceived around works that all focus on the imagination of a place that has not been constructed yet, utopia – is a place that does not exist, where other worlds are imagined. All these imaginary constructions participate in transforming the reality. Paintings, video, drawings, multimedia works and sculptures will reveal the common aspirations and experimental approach of different generations of artists who imagine new ways of occupying space, be it physical, imaginary or corporeal.
