NASHER SCULPTURE CENTER, DALLAS, TEXASDu 07/05/2016 au 21/08/2016

Joel Shapiro, l’un des plus grands sculpteurs contemporains, explore depuis longtemps les possibilités des formes géométriques à travers des compositions structurelles et spatiales qui défient l’équilibre et recherchent l’expressivité. L’exposition du Nasher Museum réunit des séries récentes de l’artiste, formes colorées suspendues dans l’espace, ainsi que des dessins. Elle s’intéresse également aux nouvelles orientations du travail de Joel Shapiro, en présentant une installation in situ conçue spécialement pour l’espace des galeries crée par Renzo Piano.

One of the most prominent and influential sculptors of the era, Joel Shapiro has long explored geometric form through structural compositions of rectangular elements that visually and physically challenge the possibilities of balance and weight On view in his Nasher exhibition will be a series of recent, brightly painted,suspended forms that hover in space at different heights and angles, along with a series of recent drawings as well as key works by Shapiro from the Nasher’s permanent collection.The current exhibition presents a new direction in Shapiro’s work: a single, site-specific installation conceived specifically for the space of the Renzo Piano-designed galleries of the Nasher.

La Fondation a voulu garder la trace des moments forts vécus à L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue depuis la création de la Fondation Villa Datris en 2011. La Collection est présentée d’une façon totalement originale et offre une lecture renouvelée des thématiques et des œuvres.

Plus de 200 œuvres, couvrant tous les media – avec une attention particulière portée à la performance – seront présentées au public.
La directrice artistique Stephanie Rosenthal a travaillé en association avec un conseil réunissant 13 commissaires d’expositions, conservateurs, auteurs et théoriciens internationaux.

20TH BIENNALE OF SYDNEY

Titled ‘The future is already here – it’s just not evenly distributed’, the 20th Biennale will be gathering 83 artists from 35 countries, presented across 19 locations including the city’s major art institutions and Cockatoo Island in Sydney Harbour.
More than 200 works spanning all mediums – with a focus on performance – will be presented free of charge to the public.
The 20th Biennale is curated by Stephanie Rosenthal, associated with an advisory group of 13 international curators, writers and theorists.

La propriété vinicole familiale du nord de l’Espagne (CVNE), accueille cette année sur son domaine de Haro à La Rioja une exposition du sculpteur britannique Anthony Caro. Cette exposition « Nouvelle Musique dans de Nouveaux Fûts » présentera 23 sculptures de l’artiste.
Caro, mort en 2013, est considéré comme l’un des plus grands sculpteurs anglais du 20e siècle. Il a commencé sa carrière en travaillant avec Henry Moore, et a été fait chevalier pour sa contribution aux arts en 1987.

Leading family-owned Rioja winery, Compania Vinicola del Norte de Espana, is to host an exhibition by British sculptor Sir Anthony Caro at its Cune Winery in Haro this year. The exhibition, entitled New Music in New Casks, will feature 23 of Caro’s sculptures.
Caro, who died in 2013, is widely regarded as one of the greatest British sculptors of the 20th century. He began his career working with Henry Moore, and was knighted for his contribution to the arts in 1987.

Bringing together well-known artists from Europe, Africa and North & South America this exhibition delves into the cultural heritage of our societies, from the Middle Ages to symbolism, from Mannerism to Romanticism, Baroque to Surrealism. Jean-Michel Alberola, né en 1953, est l’un des artistes français les plus connus et les plus inclassables de sa génération. Le Palais de Tokyo à Paris l’invite en février 2016 à réaliser une exposition personnelle d’envergure, la première à Paris depuis sa rétrospective au Musée d’art moderne de la ville de Paris in 1997. Jean-Michel Alberola poursuit depuis le début des années 1980 une oeuvre protéiforme qui navigue entre conceptualisme, abstraction et figuration. La peinture, mais aussi la sculpture, les néons, les films, les textes ou les livres d’artistes et les oeuvres sur papier en composent les différentes facettes. Politique, poétique, engagée pleine d’humour, elle se compose et recompose en autant de rebus philosophiques qui questionnent le regard et le rôle de l’artiste dans la société. L’aventure des détails’ entend cartographier la diversité méconnue du travail de Jean-Michel Alberola, en mettant en scène de nombreuses œuvres inédites en dialogue avec ses précédentes créations, parmi lesquelles l’intégralité de ses Néons, ainsi que plusieurs grandes peintures murales. L’artiste et le commissaire, Katell Jaffrès, y invitent le spectateur à entrer dans le ‘jeu poétique, littéraire et historique’, et ‘expérimenter un territoire géographique vaste et sans frontières’.

Jean-Michel Alberola, born in 1953, is at once one of the best-known and most genre-breaking French artists of his generation. Palais de Tokyo is inviting him to put on a large-scale solo show, the first in Paris since his retrospective at the Musée d’art moderne de la Ville de Paris in 1997. Since the early 80’s, Jean-Michel Alberola seeks to create protean works that move seamlessly between conceptual, abstract and figurative art. Paintings, gouaches, sculptures, artists’ books and films represent the different facets of his quest. Political, poetic, committed and profound, Jean-Michel Alberola’s œuvre develops into philosophical conundrums which question how we see art’s role in society.  Jean-Michel Alberola’s solo show at Palais de Tokyo sets out to map the liitle-known diversity of his work, by presenting a large number of original pieces in a dialogue with his previous creations, including is complete Neons, as well as several large murals. The artist, and curator Katell Jaffrès, invite each of us to enter into a ‘poetic, literary and historical game’, and to experience a ‘huge, borderless geographical territory’.
